EDNASian Manifesto

Life is one grand adventure.
I do not belong to the legions of losers
Who struggle with their inferiorities
And whose only choice is to survive.

I am meant to be the master of the universe;
The crown of creation.

I may emerge from my daily battles
Wounded but not defeated.

I believe in myself.
I’ve got what it takes.
I am a WINNER.

Educational Philosophy

The EDNAS Group of Schools believes in what Albert Einstein thought of education, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” It follows a classical-traditional and eclectic educational system integrating various and progressive teaching and learning approaches and methods, such as Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory and Classroom Differentiated Learning, Waldorf or Rudolf Steiner’s Eurythmy and Form Drawing, Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats, Project Based Learning, the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP), Inquiry and Thematic Learning, and Design Thinking. All these apply the five tenets of a Whole Child education – healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged – and within the P21 Framework incorporating 21st-century skills – Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity.

School Characteristics & Curriculum

EDNAS School, founded in 1966 by Dr. Edna Torio-Gonzales, is a comprehensive private Pre-School (Nursery, Kinder, and Prep), Grade School (Primary-Middle Grade Schools – Grades 1-6), and High School (Junior-Senior High Schools – Grades 7-12), that attract applicants from the entire province of Pangasinan, the rest of the Philippines, and abroad. In more than fifty years, it has grown and expanded from one learning center of excellence in Dagupan City to two more campuses – EDNAS School of San Carlos and EDNAS School of Alaminos – in San Carlos and Alaminos Cities, Pangasinan, Philippines.

The EDNAS School’s Mission-Vision is inspired by the Maryknoll and Jesuit charisms. These are embodied in the spirit I AM, THEREFORE, I CAN LEARN, in Latin, EGO SUM, ERGO, APREHENSUS SUM. And calls for tradition in the disciplines of academic and values formation, culture and sports, entrepreneurship and the arts, community action and service, and above all, prayer life. The mission-vision, school spirit, and call for tradition in the various disciplines are interwoven across the curriculum and within three tracks of the academic strand – BEAM (Business, Entrepreneurship, Accountancy/Arts, Management, HEASS (Humanities, Entrepreneurship, Arts, Social Sciences), and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering/Entrepreneurship, Arts, Mathematics) – in the Preschool, Primary-Middle Grade School, and the Junior-Senior High School with Entrepreneurship and the Arts being constants in the program framework. Extra or co-curricular through various school activities and after-school clubs are deeply entrenched in student life. The curriculum is designed and structured to surpass the Department of Education’s (DepEd) minimum requirements.
